This week we celebrated our penguin unit by creating penguin habitats in groups. They turned out really well!! There are babies, food and predators, the students learned so much! Thank-you to the volunteers that came and helped with the glue guns. Student Led ConferencesThe children get to be the star!! Your child will lead you through some stations and show you their work. They are Very proud and excited to show you what they've been up to in kindergarten. Please make sure to visit all of the stations and take your child's clay penguin and rockhopper plant home with you.

In kindergarten this week the children learned what a penguins eats and what eats penguins!! Ask your child about both. We labeled the parts of a penguin, wrote and drew pictures in our research book. In math, we made pictures of a penguin eating green and yellow fish and added all of the fish together, The students made rockhopper penguins using wheat grass. St.Patrick's Day We learned a song about leprechauns, drew pictures of them and we turned ourself into a leprechaun!! Our classroom had a visit from a leprechaun too!! He made a mess and left us treat, but we didn't catch him so we didn't get his gold.
We are learning about penguins. This week we discussed types of penguins, habitats and chicks. There are many different types and habitats, they don't all live where its cold!! Ask your child about them. The students started their Penguin Research book. The children drew and painted pictures of penguins. We made some beautiful art work out of water colours. Letters and NumbersThis week we were very busy with penguins but we also practiced the letter /j/ Penguin Zoo Keeper GuestWe were so Very lucky to have a zoo keeper from the Calgary Zoo come in today. She looks after the penguins. She told us about where penguins live, what they eat, why they have a barbed tongue and how different their personalities are.
