It was only a 3 day week but we learned a lot about owls. Ask your child; about their eyes? their head? what they eat? where they live? We were scientists and did an experiment to see what would happen if we mixed yellow and red paint together. Pumpkin PatchNext week we will turn our experiment into a wonderful pumpkin patch. LettersThis week we practiced the letter /t/

This week we worked our fine motor muscles by tracing and colouring pumpkins. The children had to match a colour to a letter on their colour by number. I put out some new centres and opened Smart Board during centre time. It was very exciting! Letters and NumbersThis week we practiced the letter /a/ and the number 1. We practice them on chalkboards before doing printing in our books. Practice the songs for the letters and the poems for the numbers at home please.
This week we learned about pumpkins. The students coloured a pumpkin and used 'leaf glitter' to decorate it. We learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin and made a lovely crown with some pictures of the cycle. The children completed an activity in counting pumpkins from 1-5. Mat ManWe've been using our pre-writing shapes to make pictures. The students drew a picture of themselves using our Mat Man song, ask them to sing it for you. Their drawings have all of the right parts! GymJolly PhonicsI teach reading through Jolly Phonics. Each letter we learn will have the name, sound, action and song to go with it. The songs are below. This week we practiced /s/, it is a tricky letter to print so feel free to practice it at home.
This week we have been learning about turkeys and Thanksgiving. JournalsWe read a book about being thankful and then the children drew a picture in their journal about what they are thankful for. Ask your child what they wrote about.
