This week we have been looking for and learning about signs of fall. The children know a lot! In math we made patterns, sorted the apples, played a dice game and completed a ten frame apple sheet. We tasted 4 kinds of apples, made apple juice and apple pie. We also did some fall art activities. We chose to make apple juice and apple pie. YUM!! The children helped to peel the apples, some of the peels were as long as the students!! Making apple juice using a Vita mix, it was pretty thick but all of the children tried it, most liked it. This week in kindergarten we continued to practice our names by printing them and creating name puzzles to solve. ApplesThe children have brought in some apples for us to look at. Next week we will sort and taste them. This week we completed a sequencing activity with apple pictures and made a beautiful crown out of it. We read the story 10 Apples Up On Top. In math we were discussing patterns so made patterns of apples on our heads. It's on our bulletin board, take a look if you are here for grades 1-4 interviews. Sorting and PatternsAt the light table the children counted, sorted the items and made patterns. Terry Fox RunThe children were able to take part in the Terry Fox Run. The weather outside did not cooperate so the kindergarten classes did it in the gym, it was great fun!! Thanks for all of the donations that were sent in. We had all of the kindergarten students together today, both morning and afternoon classes. We opened up the curtain and let the children flow through both classrooms. They really enjoyed the different centers and playing with friends from the other class.
It was our first full week of school and it was Wonderful! We are working on independence and following routines. Please make sure your child can do their own coat and shoes up. We start each day with "Busy Hands", these are building and fine motor activities. Next, we have our carpet time and lesson for the day then we have centers. The children explored many centers such as: play dough, lego, sand, practicing names on white boards, painting, light table, blocks. The students had a chance to go to Music with Mrs.Paul and gym too. We played games and used the parachute. We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and watched this video. You can watch it again with your child and review the alphabet. International Dot Day, Sept.15thWe celebrated Dot Day this week by reading the story and making dots using pastels and paint. The children cut the dots out as well.
