This week we read lots of Eric Carle books. The children made clouds inspired by Little Cloud. We made paper just like Eric Carle does; with paint, fingers, brushes, toothbrushes and so much more. BuddiesWe made some Eric Carle flowers with our buddies after we read Tiny Seed. Letters and Numbers This week we practiced /y/. GymnasticsIn gym, we have been using benches and mats to move our bodies in different ways. This week we were able to use the Canadian Climber as well as the benches and mats. We climbed up, down, slid, balanced, rolled, scooted and tip toed our way through an obstacle course. McDonald's CentreOur house centre has been transformed into a burger and fry place. The children take the order, cook the food and serve it to their customers.
This week was a very short 3 day week and we also had Safety Days. We were busy! We had visits from a fire fighter, police officer, bike repair volunteers, and we also learned about playground safety and pedestrian safety. Letters and NumbersThis week we practiced /v/, subitizing and making groups of ten.
Spring is in the air! We have been learning about spring and have lots of egg and bunny centres out. Letters and NumbersThis week we practiced the letter /w/ and we cracked open eggs with 3 letters and a picture inside. The children had to put the letters in the correct order, print the word and draw a picture of it in an egg book. In math, the children filled numbers in the blanks.
This week we continued to learn about what hatches from eggs and we made wool stuffies. Tracy Kuffner, Wool ArtistWe had the most amazing experience this week designing and creating our own stuffies. Tracy Kuffner brought in wool from her own sheep to make the wool cloth. BuddiesIn buddies today, we worked on our number recognition by playing "Go Fish". It is a great game to play with your children.
This week we discussed animals that come from eggs. The children had a lot of expertise! We talked about: birds, dinosaurs, snakes, turtles, fish, lizards...so many more. The students made dinosaur skeletons using pasta noodles. Letters and NumbersThis week we reviewed all of the letters and practiced the letter /z/. We did number 7 in our journal.
