This week we did so any things! We retold The Mitten using paper puppets and made snowman names. In math, the students learned about 'greater than' and did a domino activity. They also made a mug of hot chocolate and put marshmallows in it. During busy hands the students experimented with magnets. Letters and NumbersThis week we practiced the letter /g/ and the number 7.
This week we read The Mitten by Jan Brett and other versions of the story. We acted it out and wrote about it in our journal. The children painted a mitten and decided what would crawl into it. We made snowmen using a sponge and white paint, the children were able to decorate it any way they chose. I brought in some snow and the children made snowballs, cakes, castles and much more. They were surprised at how quickly the snow melted. Letters and numbersThis week we practiced the letter /d/ and the number 6. Gymnastics Building Together Watch the tower get taller and taller! They worked as a team to build it.
This week we continued to learn about snow. We made snowflakes out of paper, drew snowflakes, played in the snow both inside our classroom and outside in our school yard. The students completed a snowman sequencing activity and made a crown out of the story. We also played bingo using some of the words and sounds we have learned. In gym, we have been doing gymnastics; learning how to move and balance using different parts of our bodies. On Friday we had a magician visit our school to teach us about how to be a good friend, it was Awesome!! Ask your child about it. How tall is your snow tower? The children built a tower out of cotton snow and measured it with cubes. Letters and Numbers This week we practiced the letter /m/ and the number 5. We also wrote in our journal about what snowmen might do at night while we are sleeping. There are some very interesting ideas! Snowman ProjectHere are the snowmen that I received so far, they all look great!!
