We learn to make letters using the Handwriting Without Tears program. It uses 4 basic lines: big curve, little curve, big line and small line. Introducing these lines starts with introducing Mat Man, he's made from all of these lines. The children use the pieces to make Mat Man, then they will draw themselves, making sure to have: a head, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, neck, body, arms, hands, legs and feet, don't forget hair!
September 15, 2015 was International Dot Day. We read The Dot by Peter H.Reynolds and then we each made a dot, a beautiful dot and then put it on a tree altogether. We read the story "Ten Apples up on Top" by Dr. Seuss and watched this short video. The kids then used apple punch outs to create a pattern of apples on top of their heads. We have been practicing writing and creating our names with stamps, dots, paint, puzzle pieces and pencils. |
