In addition to insects and caterpillars in our class, the children made amazing castles in blocks and we had a special guest, Michael Mitchell. He was very entertaining, I even had to get up and dance in front of the whole school, on crazy hair day none the less. The children loved that. Here are a few of his songs.

Our caterpillars have arrived! They were so very tiny and fuzzy, they have already grown so much in 2 days. The children drew a picture in their Butterfly Observation Book.
This week were learning about insects. What is an insect? Ask you child how many body parts? How many legs? Does an insect have bones? We brainstormed all of the things we knew about insects, some of their ideas were correct, great thinking!
This week the children practiced the letter y, measured objects using taller and shorter, explored volume using water and eye droppers and finished many art projects.
The children has been very busy making art projects for our Art Walk. Parents were invited to come to the school and view some of the art projects that the children made. The grade one staff also put on a presentation about the transition from kindergarten to grade one. It's a Big change.
This week we made flubber. It was so cool!! Our poem was Little Miss Muffet, the children practiced the letter /v/ and we labelled a diagram of the parts of a plant. The children planted wild flowers and we are very patiently waiting for them to grow.
This week we read many more Eric Carle books. We finished our beautiful kindergarten mural, but you'll have to come to our Art Walk next Thursday to see it! I will also post pictures next week of the final product. The children made their own "Mixed up Chameleon" using water colors. The chameleons will also be on display at our Art Walk.
We are reading Many Eric Carle books. The children are getting ready to do an Eric Carle mural for our Art Walk night. First they need to create beautiful and creative paper.
This week the children practiced their "Mom" poem, learned more about the letter /w/ and today we saw a company of hoop dancers. They were amazing!! We also tried meditating, it was very relaxing! See the link below.
This week we had our moms join us in our Mother's Day Tea. The children presented two poems that they had been working on in class. We decorated cookies and enjoyed iced tea. The children helped bake the cookies, made beautiful flowers and they made pictures and cards for mom. It was a very special day!
