We were very busy this week. The children continued to work on their dribbling skills in soccer and we had many new centers. Writing StoriesThis week the children wrote stories using story boards. First we wrote a story together as a class and then they each drew the pictures to tell their own story with their stuffie was the main character. I helped with the writing. Have your child tell you the story we wrote together and the story they wrote about their stuffie. Our Eric Carle murale turned out Amazing! The children made the paper, then cut out a flower. Many children made birds, caterpillars, birds and snakes. CentersThis week were getting ready for our Mother's Day Tea. We worked on soccer skills in gym and continued to learn about 3D shapes. The children wrote about their favorite part of the zoo trip in their journal. Mother's Day TeaWe hosted a mother's day tea today! They made beautiful flowers for the tables and delicious cookies for treats. The students helped with the ingredients, stirred the dough, rolled it and cut out heart shapes for me to bake. The children decorated the cookies with mom and ate them up. They sang two songs for mom and it was a big hit!! They did great!!
This week we learned about 3D shapes, and we started a unit on Eric Carle. We also went on our first field trip!! Eric CarleWe have been reading Eric Carle books, many of the children have some of these books at home. We will be creating kindergarten mural using techniques that Eric uses. Lots of messy paint!! We watched the Mixed Up Chameleon and wrote about what makes us unique. We painted a chameleon on our page. Our beans we planted with our buddies are growing too, some are very tall! In gym we started soccer skills. The children practiced passing the ball to a partner with the inside of their foot and dribbling the ball. The children have enjoyed playing with their stuffies and a farm house center that was out this week. We also mixed together red, yellow and blue to create beautiful tie-dyed paper which we will turn into lovely flowers for our Mother's Day Tea next Thursday. ZooWe had our zoo field trip today.
