Our butterflies are in the larva stage- the caterpillar. Our caterpillars have grown So much! Remember how small they were last week? They are getting so big and fat. I don 't know how they are still fitting in their containers. We can't wait to see what they do next. This week we have done many caterpillar activities. JournalsThe children wrote about their favourite part of the zoo. Musical Therapist GuestWe were so very lucky to have Mr.Downey come in and do some music with us. We got to play instruments, use a puppet to do a monster voice, play a accordion, sing and dance. It was so much fun!! We measured our shoes using paper clips and snap cubes.

This week we explored measurement using sand, water and different shapes and sizes of containers. Which container will hold more? We also used scales to see which object weighed more and how do we get the scale to be even on both sides? CaterpillarsOur painted lady caterpillars have arrived!! They are So tiny but they are eating, eating, eating. The students drew a picture of the caterpillars in their Butterfly Observation Book. Ask them what the tiny black dots in the containers are. Next week we will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. Zoo TripWe had our field trip to the zoo and it was Fantastic!! Here are just a few snapshots of the animals we were able to see. For some children it was their first bus ride and first trip to the zoo. Very Exciting! Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who were able to volunteer for us, we couldn't do it without you. Painting beautiful spring flowers
This week the students learned about 2D and 3D shapes, how to; draw, describe, identify and sort them. Knuffle Bunny PredictionsWe watched the Knuffle Bunny and made predictions of how the story would end. Would they find the bunny? Where did it go? What makes me unique?The students looked at the Mixed Up Chameleon then they decided what made them unique. We drew a chameleon and painted it. More new centersThis week my ipad lost all of my pictures from Mon-Thurs, so I only have pictures of Friday. Sorry! So no pics of the food colour eye dropping on coffee filters and turning them into flowers, making cards or making flowers for our mural. Mother's DayThis week we got ready for our Mother's Day Tea. We made cards and flowers for mom. The students used food colouring and eye droppers on coffee filters to make beautiful colours for our flowers. The children did a poem and sang a song for our moms, they did a Great job!! We had cookies that the children helped to make and iced tea. Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms. Eric Carle MuralThis week we created our Eric Carle mural. Each kindergarten student made a flower using the paper we made. There are also spiders, birds and bugs. It will be on the gym for the volunteer tea on Friday. The children finished their stories for their stuffies and took their stuffie home today,
This week we read Jack and the Beanstalk and we are growing our own beans! Some of them have started to grow roots already. The children drew and labeled a scientific diagram in their journal of their bean. Eric CarleWe have been reading Eric Carle books this week. The students painted paper using lots of colours and tools to make it look very interesting. Next week we will turn the paper into a beautiful mural.
